Zdenek Romanek, President & CEO, Raiffeisen Bank România

Passionate about technology and the impact of digitalization on the banking industry, Zdenek Romanek has over 20 years of experience in financial services and management consulting. Since 2022 he has been President & CEO of Raiffeisen Bank Romania, and prior to taking office, he gained extensive international leadership expertise in several countries in Europe and the US.

For almost 7 years, he was a member of the Management Board and Vice President Retail at Slovenska Sporitelna, responsible for coordinating the bank’s digitization, while also involved in the development of the Erste Group-wide digital transformation strategy, where he also was leading the Erste Group bancassurance business.

Born in north Moravia, the Czech Republic, holds two Master degrees, in Computer Science at Charles University, and in Insurance and Banking at Prague University of Economics and Business, and also an MBA from INSEAD.

Zdenek Romanek started his working career as an IT freelancer, later moving into business consulting with companies such as KPMG and McKinsey, and then into the managerial roles in the financial sectors.
